R. B. Walker
R. B. Walker is Dean and Head of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Rhodes University, Grahamstown, South Africa. He completed his B.Pharm. (1983) and Ph.D. degrees in biopharmaceutics and pharmacokinetics (1995) at Rhodes University and was the National Distinguished Teacher of the Year in pharmacy (2000). Walker has recently been appointed as a Visiting Professor at the School of Health and Life Sciences at Aston University, Birmingham, UK. Walker has published over 60 research papers, book chapters, and abstracts and has delivered 139 presentations at conferences. He has successfully supervised 14 postgraduates and currently has 2 Ph.D. and 7 M.S. students. He serves as a reviewer for scientific and professional journals and his research focuses on the development, manufacture, and assessment of pharmaceutical dosage forms and regulatory science. He is rated by the National Research Foundation in South Africa and has worked as a Senior Scientist in a Pharmaceutical CRO in the USA where he was involved in the development of sustained release technologies. He is an expert member of the Pharmaceutical, Analytical, and Bioequivalence Committee of the Medicines Control Council of South Africa. Walker is currently the Chairman of the Head of Schools Committee of the South African Pharmacy Council. Walker is an active member of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists and the Controlled Release Society where he serves as an Editor of the Newsletter and was the Vice Chair of the Board of Scientific Advisors. In addition, Walker reviews manuscripts and serves on the editorial board of several international journals.
