Józef Banaś received his Ph. D. degree in 1978 from Marie Curie-Skłodowska University, Lublin, Poland. He is a Professor of mathematics and Chairman of the Department of Mathematics at Rzeszów University of Technology, Rzeszów, Poland, and a Professor of Mathematics at State Higher School of Technology and Economics, Jarosław, Poland. Professor Banaś visited several universities all over the world, for example, University of La Laguna, University of Gran Canaria, University of Cantabria, University of Granada and University of Sevilla in Spain, University of Alexandria in Egypt, University of Los Andes and Central University of Venezuela in Venezuela, and South Kazakhstan State University in Kazakhstan. He was also a speaker, invited speaker and plenary speaker of several international conferences and congresses. Professor Banaś is the author over than 140 research papers on nonlinear analysis, geometry of Banach spaces, and the theories of differential and integral equations. He is also the coauthor of two books: Measures of Noncompactness in Banach Spaces, Lecture Notes in Pure and Applied Mathematics, vol. 60, Marcel Dekker, New York and Basel, 1980 (with K. Goebel) and Bounded Variation and Around, De Gruyter Series in Nonlinear Analysis and Applications 17, Walter de Gruyter, Berlin and Boston, 2014 (with J. Appell and N. Merentes). Professor J. Banaś is a Supervisor of 10 Ph.D. theses in mathematics.
