Yi-Ping Liu obtained his Ph.D. degree in animal genetics and breeding in 2002 from Sichuan Agricultural University, Ya'an, China; his M.S. degree in animal genetics and breeding in 1998 from the same university; and his B.S. degree in biology in 1995 from China West Normal University, Nan Chong, China. Liu has worked as a Lecturer from 1999 to 2004, an Associate Professor from 2004 to 2008, and a Full Professor in from 2008 to present in the College of Animal Science & Technology, Sichuan Agricultural University, Ya’an, China. Liu's primary research interests are poultry (broiler, layer, and goose) genetics and origin of species and phylogeny evolution analysis. Liu has served as a Visiting Scientist, Netherland and Finland, from January 2003 to May 2003; a Member of the World's Poultry Science Association (WPSA); and (co)principal investigator of many research projects, such as the twelfth five-year plan for breeding program in Sichuan, China, from 2012 to 2015.
