Patrick Martin
Patrick Martin was born in Abbeville, France, in 1963. He received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Picardie-Jules Verne in 1993 under the supervision of Professor P. Villa in the field of raw materials and glycochemistry. In 1994, he became an Assistant Professor at Laboratoire des Glucides, University of Picardie-Jules Verne, where he worked on amphiphilic glycomolecules with Professor Villa and in biological oligosaccharides synthesis with Professor Goethals. In 2000, he received his Habilitation degree and was promoted to a Professor in 2001 at Université d'Artois (IUT Béthune) at the Blood Brain Barrier Laboratory, where he worked on drug targeting with Professor Cecchelli. Since 2006, he has been working at UCCS (CNRS 8181) with Professor Mortreux. His current research interests are mainly in the field of natural product chemistry, glycochemistry (surfactants, liquid crystals, and drug targeting), and biomaterials. He is copartner of a Eureka program on news oligosaccharides derivatives with prebiotic properties. He is now the Director of Béthune Institute of Technology.
