Toni Björninen received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees with distinction in electrical engineering both from Tampere University of Technology (TUT), Tampere, Finland, in 2009 and 2012, respectively. He is presently the Principal Investigator in Implantable and Wearable Antennas for Body-Centric Wireless Sensing Systems research project funded by the Academy of Finland and works as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering, TUT. He is also a member of Institute of Biosciences and Medical Technology (BioMediTech)—a joint research institute between TUT and University of Tampere. His other research interests include antenna and microwave technology for energy harvesting and RFID systems and additive manufacturing of electronics Björninen has been a Postdoctoral Scholar in Berkeley Wireless Research Center in EECS Department, University of California, Berkeley, Berkeley, CA, USA, and in Microwave and Antenna Institute in Department of Electronic Engineering in Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. He is an author of 102 peer-reviewed scientific publications.
