Diane Berengere Re

Columbia University, USA

Diane B. Re received her Ph.D. degree in neuroscience from the University of Mediterranean, Marseille, France in 2004. She acquired there an expertise in the cell death mechanisms linked to glutamate transport alteration and in neuron-glial interactions in the normal and pathological brain, such as in cerebral infarction and in Parkinson disease. In 2005, she moved to Columbia University, New York, USA to perform her postdoctoral training in Serge Przedborski's Laboratory. She worked there on several projects studying the role of glial cells and inflammation in the death of motor neurons in motor neuron diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and spinal muscular atrophy. In 2008, she became a Faculty Member in the Department of Neurology by obtaining a permanent position of an Associate Research Scientist. Dr. Re is currently Faculty in the Department of Pathology and Cell Biology and the Leader of the motor neuron disease team in Professor Przedborski's Laboratory.
