Jian-Li Gao works as a Research Assistant at the Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, Hangzhou, China. Dr. Gao received her Ph.D. degree in biomedical sciences in 2009 from the University of Macau, Macau, China. She finished her postdoctoral research focusing on the molecular pharmacology at the Molecular Oncology Laboratory, University of Chicago Medical Center, Chicago, Ill, USA. Her main research interests include the following: (1) cancer molecular and cell biology, tumor cell invasion and metastasis, stromal cell-tumor interaction, and cell signaling pathways related to cancer; (2) anticancer activities of natural products and drug discovery that focus on the natural compounds for the cell invasion and cancer metastasis inhibitors; and (3) natural products on stem cell self-renewal and differentiation and identifying and characterizing natural compounds from Chinese herbal medicine, which can affect tissue-specific stem cell renewal and differentiation. Gao has, moreover, published over 35 publications in these areas. As a Principal Investigator, her research was supported by grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
