María Ángela Burrell0000-0002-8018-764X
Maria A. Burrell was born in Zaragoza, Spain, in 1963. She obtained her degree in biology from the University of Navarra, Spain, in 1986, and the Ph.D. degree from the same university in 1991. In 1993-1994, she worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Human Pathology of the University of Pavia, Italy. Currently, she is a Professor of cell biology at the Schools of Medicine and Sciences at the University of Navarra. She is mainly interested in the study of the diffuse neuroendocrine system in the gastrointestinal tract. At present, her research is focused on gut mechanisms involved in appetite control and body weight regulation. She is an author of 32 international research articles. Since 2008, she has been the Secretary of the Spanish Society of Cell Biology.
