Pasquale De Meo is Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of Messina. Previously, he was Marie Curie Fellow at Department of Computer Science, Vrijie Universiteit van Amsterdam. He received his MsC in Electrical Engineering in 2002 summa cum laude at the University Mediterranea of Reggio Calabria. In 2006 he received his PhD in Computer and System Engineering at the University of Calabria. His research activities fall within the context of Information System, Artificial Intelligence and Online Social Networks. He is author of 71 scientific papers, 29 of them published on journals. In 2006, his PhD thesis entitled “Semantic Approaches for Accessing Distributed Information” awarded a prize by Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence as the best PhD thesis in the field of Artificial Intelligence. The thesis was later published as a monography by VDM Verlag. He has been referee for many national and international conferences, journals and books. Among the most relevant there are Information Systems, Information Sciences, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics and IJCAI. He collaborated with the researchers of prestigeous Italian and foreign institutions like University of Bari, University of Calabria, Polytechnic of Grenoble (France), Polytechnic of Harbin (China), Polytechnic of Milano, University of Torino, University College of London, University of Indiana at Bloomington. He served as research project referee on behalf of Qatar National Research Fund. He was involved in many national research projects. He is affiliated with the excellence networks WASP (Working Group on Answer Set Programming), INTEROP (Interoperability Research for Networked Enterprises Applications and Software), and AGENTLINK III (AgentLink III a Network of Excellence for agent-based systems). He supervised many BsC and MsC thesis. He taught a number of courses in Masters.
