Jeffrey K. Actor

Jeffrey K. Actor received his Ph.D. degree in molecular and cellular biology from the University of Massachusetts, Mass, USA in 1991, after which he completed a postdoctoral training at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIH). Dr. Actor joined the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Texas-Houston Medical School (Houston, Tex, USA) in 1997 and is currently a Tenured Professor. His research interests are directed at understanding the host immune regulation of cytokines and proinflammatory response during pathogenic infections, specifically focusing on models of tuberculosis in susceptible and resistant mice. His goal is to understand the host response to infectious agents to allow development of effective vaccines and therapeutics to combat disease.
