Klaus-Dieter Schlüter

Klaus Dieter Schluter studied biology at the University of Münster, then went to the GBF Braunschweig for his Ph.D. degree. Thereafter, he entered the lab of Professor Dr. Piper at the Düsseldorf University. Since 2002, he serves as a Professor in physiology at the University of Gießen. The research aims are to understand the development of heart failure as a consequence of hypertension and ischemia/reperfusion and to develop possible new therapeutical principles. Methodologically speaking, the work is based on studies on isolated adult ventricular cardiomyocytes, but also includes ex vivo and in vivo analysis of small rodents.
