Michel Jeandin

Michel Jeandin graduated from the Ecole Centrale de Lyon and was awarded a Ph.D. degree from the Ecole des Mines de Paris (School of Mines/Paris) in Materials Science and Engineering, in 1981. He is, currently, a Directeur de Recherche (Research Professor) at MINES ParisTech (formerly Ecole des Mines de Paris) in surface engineering and tribology and the Director of the Competence Center for Spray Processing (C2P) at this same institution. In addition to his mother tongue (French), he has a knowledge of English (fluent), Italian (fairly good), Spanish (moderate), and Japanese (moderate, Int. Level 4). His major fields of expertise are thermal spray, laser processing, and tribology. Michel Jeandin authored/coauthored more than 300 publications, 125 of which in peer-reviewed journals. Several of them gained Best Paper Awards. Nine patents and one registered mark also resulted from his work. He is a Fellow of ASM (FASM), Chevalier of the Order of the “Palmes Académiques”, and the Vice Chairman of the board of directors of the “Matériaupôle” association.
