Karl H. Kogel

Karl H. Kogel was born in Aachen, Germany, in 1956. He received the Diploma degree in biology (summa cum laude) and the Ph.D. degree (summa cum laude) from the RWTH Aachen University, Aachen, Germany, in 1981 and 1985, respectively. In 1996, Kogel received his Habilitation and Venia Legendi in plant physiology from the RWTH Aachen. From 1986 to 1988, he was a Research Fellow at the Max-Planck-Institute for Breeding Research at Cologne, Germany. From 1990 to 1996, Kogel was a Research Associate of the Institute of Plant Physiology at the RWTH Aachen and from 1996 onwards Professor of plant pathology at the Justus-Liebig University Gießen, Germany. He is mainly interested in plant pathology and biotechnology: improving plant for disease resistance, fungal genomics, and plant-derived food allergies.
