Jorge U. Béria

Jorge U. Béria was born in 1949, in Santa Maria, state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. He is mainly interested in adolescent health, HIV/AIDS, mental health, and health services evaluation. He received an M.D. degree from Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, RS, Brazil in 1976. In 1982, he received an M.S. degree in community health from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London. In 1991, Béria received a Ph.D. degree in medicine, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. From 1979 to 2002, he served as a Professor of epidemiology at Universidade Federal de Pelotas, RS, Brazil. From 1989 to 1992, Béria worked as a Research Director of Universidade Federal de Pelotas, RS, Brazil. In 1997, he held the position of an Associate Professor at Universidade Luterana do Brasil ULBRA, Canoas, RS, Brazil. From 2003 to 2010, Béria served as Coordinator of Programa de Pós-Graduação em Saúde Coletiva, ULBRA, Canoas, RS, Brazil.
