Jyrki J. Eloranta
Jyrki J. Eloranta received the M.S. degree in molecular genetics and biochemistry from the University of Helsinki, Helsinki, Finland, in May 1991 with an M.S. thesis entitled ?Sandwich hybridization method for identifying HPV-31 from clinical samples? and the Ph.D. degree in biochemistry and chemical pathology from the University of London (Imperial Cancer Research Fund), London, UK, in July 1995, with a Ph.D. thesis entitled ?Regulation of the human beta-interferon promoter.? Currently he works as a Senior Staff Research Scientist (Laboratory Manager) at the Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology, University Hospital Zurich, Zurich, Switzerland. His research interests include the following: transcriptional regulation of genes encoding hepatic and intestinal transporters for drugs and endogenous compounds, association between cholestatic diseases and genetic polymorphisms in bile acid transporter genes and their regulators, and the role of genetic variants in transporter genes and their transcriptional regulators in pathologies of the human liver and intestine.
