Prof. Dr. Guillermo San Martín, born in Madrid, January 1955. Full Professor of Zoology at the University Autónoma of Madrid, Spain, since 2008; previously Assistant (1979-1986) and lecturer (1986-2008). Department of Biology. Teaching Zoology, Invertebrates and Marine Biology. Research focused on Taxonomy, Systematics, ecology and biogeography of Polychaetes (Annelida), also marine benthic ecology and applied studies in marine environment. Currently, 170 publications, including some books, most of them focused on worldwide taxonomy and systematics of the family Syllidae (Polychaeta). Main Researcher of a current project about morphology and molecular systematics of the Syllidae from the Pacific Ocean. Five Ph. D. addressed. Participant in numerous international meetings and conferences. Member of the Advisory Council of the International Polychaete Association (IPA) from 1986 to 1992; President of the IPA from 2004-2007. Organizer of the VIII International Polychaete Conference in Madrid, 4-9 July 2004. Participant in several scientific collecting cruises.
