Heracles Polatidis received his first degree in mechanical engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1995, an M.S. degree in environmental pollution control management from the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, Heriot-Watt University Edinburgh, Edinburgh, UK, in 1996, and a Ph.D. degree in energy analysis and decision modeling from the Department of Environment, University of the Aegean, Lesbos, Greece, in 2003. He is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Earth Sciences, Uppsala University, Uppsala, Sweden. His research field lies in the areas of integrated energy planning and design, covering a wide spectrum from the investigation of the complex relationship between energy, environment, and society to energy societal transition management, environmental assessment, operational research, and multicriteria decision analysis.
