Dimitrios S. Karataglis
Dimitrios S. Karataglis serves currently as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with interest in sports medicine, knee and shoulder surgery at the 1st Orthopaedic Department, Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki, “G. Papanikolaou” General Hospital (since March 2007). His medical education was at the Medical School of the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki (1987-1993) on scholarship. He graduated with honours in 1993. His basic surgical training was at AHEPA University Hospital, 492 and 424 Military Hospitals (March 1995 - September 1997). His orthopaedic training was at Royal Bournemouth Hospital and Poole General Hospital, Dorset, UK (February 1998 - February 1999) and 1st Orthopaedic Department of the Medical School of the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki (February 1999-February 2003). He received a Certificate of Completion of Surgical Training in Orthopaedics (CCST Orth) awarded following exams before the National Board of Exams (April 2003). He was a Senior Clinical Fellow at Knee and Shoulder Unit, Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham, UK (July 2003-November 2004). He is specialised in sports injuries, arthroscopic, and reconstructive knee and shoulder surgery. He was a Clinical and Research Fellow in the Knee, Shoulder and Sports Injuries Unit of the 1st Orthopaedic Department of Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki(November 2004-March 2007). He was awarded a Ph.D. degree with honours from the Medical School of the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki in June 2005. His special interests are sports injuries, arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder, and knee and shoulder trauma and arthroplasty. He was the author of 27 basic, clinical research or review articles in Medline/Scopus listed peer-reviewed international journals and author of 7 clinical or review articles in national journals. He gave 85 presentations in national and international congresses and 50 lectures in national and international meetings, congresses, or symposia.
