Hamid Soori was born in Iran in 1960. He has got his M.P.H. degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Iran and his Ph.D. degree in epidemiology from the Newcastle University, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, in 1996. Soori is the Head of the Department of Epidemiology at the School of Public Health at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and Health Services, Tehran, and the Director of Safety Promotion and Injury Prevention Research Center. He has over 23 years of experience in training and research affairs. He is a board member of many national and international organizations or scientific committees. He has published more than 100 scientific papers in the field of epidemiology and public health. Soori has been a supervisor of many Ph.D. and M.S. students and is an editorial member of some scientific journals. His research interests are mainly focused on epidemiological methods, injury prevention, and safety promotion, as well as health-related quality-of-life issues.
