Alain Walcarius received the Ph.D. degree in chemical sciences (Namur, Belgium) in 1994 and achieved Habilitation for analytical chemistry (Nancy University, France) in 2000. From 1996 to 2004, he served as a CNRS Research Associate at LCPME (Nancy, France). Since 2004, he has been a CNRS Research Director at Laboratoire de Chimie Physique et Microbiologie pour l’Environnement (LCPME) (Nancy, France). He also holds the position of Head of the Analytical Chemistry and Electrochemistry Group. His current research interest is in electrochemistry and analytical chemistry with silica-based organic-inorganic hybrid materials (mesoporous particles and thin films). He was awarded the Electroanalytical Chemistry Award of SFC (sponsored by Radiometer-Tacussel) in 1999, the Analytical Chemistry 2000-Award of SFC (Analytical Chemistry Division) in 2001, and the Tajima Prize 2006 of the International Society of Electrochemistry (ISE) in 2006.
