Carl Schmidt, holder of the M.D. and M.S.C.I. degrees, is an Assistant Professor of surgery and a member of the Division of Surgical Oncology at the Wexner Medical Center and James Cancer Hospital of The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, USA. His research interests include novel therapeutic approaches to primary and secondary hepatic malignancies, minimally invasive operations for gastrointestinal malignancies, identification of biomarkers in patients at risk for HCC, and developing unique quality metrics for cancer hospitals. He graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1999 followed by general surgery residency at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN, USA, Masters of Science in Clinical Investigation degree in 2004, and fellowship in surgical oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York, NY, USA.
