Serafín Moral was born in 1959. He obtained an M.S. degree in mathematics in 1981 and a Ph.D. degree in sciences (mathematics) in 1985, both from the University of Granada, Granada, Spain. Now, he is a Professor at the Department of Computer Science, University of Granada. He has published about 70 papers in major journals and 35 papers in edited books and has collaborated with researchers around the world. Dr. Moral has been a Program Cochair of the conferences UAI ʼ98, TTIA ʼ05, and ISIPTA ʼ09 and a Chairman of the organizing committee of the conferences Ecsqaru ʼ93 and IPMU ʼ96. He is an Area Chair of the International Journal of Uncertainty Fuzziness and Knowledge-Based Systems and Revista Iberoamericana de Inteligencia Artificial. He is a Member of the Editorial Board of the following journals: the International Journal of Approximate Reasoning, Progress in Artificial Intelligence, the Artificial Intelligence Journal, and the Journal of Artificial Intelligence Research. His research interests include Bayesian networks (propagation algorithms and most probable explanation), foundations of uncertain reasoning, and imprecise probability (conditioning, independence, and algorithms in graphical structures).
