Juan F. Van Der Maelen

Juan F. Van Der Maelen graduated in chemistry from the University of Oviedo in December, 1981; received an M.S. degree in chemistry from the University of Oviedo in March, 1983, thesis directed by Professor L. Pueyo and entitled (in Spanish) "“Interacciones monocéntricas y de enlace en compuestos de metales de transición”; graduated physics from the UNED (Madrid) in June, 1991; received a Ph.D. degree in physical chemistry from the University of Oviedo in December, 1991, thesis directed by Professor S. García-Granda and Professor F. Gómez-Beltrán and entitled (in Spanish) “Una nueva versión del programa de refinamiento SHELX. Aplicación a estudios estructurales por difracción de rayos X.” He served as an Assistant Professor of physical chemistry at the University of Oviedo (January 14, 1989 to September 30, 1989); as an Associate Professor of physical chemistry at the University of Oviedo (October 1, 1989 to April 12, 1996); as a Lecturer of physical chemistry at the University of Oviedo (April 13, 1996 to August 13, 1999); as a Senior Lecturer in physical chemistry at the University of Oviedo (since August 14, 1999 to date). He had short stays in foreign research centers including Göttingen (Germany) Institut für Anorganische Chemie (University of Göttingen) with Professor George M. Sheldrick (May to August, 1993); Göttingen (Germany). Institut für Anorganische Chemie (University of Göttingen), with Professor Dr. George M. Sheldrick (July to December, 1997); Grenoble (France), European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF, SNBL) with Professor Hans-Peter Weber (June 28 to July 3, 2005).
