Paul-Hermann Zieschang

Paul-Hermann Zieschang received his Doctoral degree (1983) and his Habilitation (1991) from the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, Kiel, Germany, the university where he also holds an extraordinary professorship. Presently he is a Professor of mathematics at the University of Texas at Brownsville, Brownsville, Texas, USA. Earlier, he was a Long-Term Visitor at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK (1988 and 1990), at Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas, USA (1991), and at Kyushu University, Fukuoka, Japan (1997). In 2010, Zieschang was a Visitor at the Max-Planck-Institut für Mathematik, Bonn, Germany. Zieschang's mathematical interests are in algebra, mainly in finite group theory and generalizations (association schemes, hypergroups, and buildings).
