Giovanni Tallini serves as a Full Professor in the School of Medicine, University of Bologna. In 1985, Tallini achieved an academic degree in medicine and surgery from Policlinico "A. Gemelli" School of Medicine, Rome. From July 1999 to November 2002, he worked as an Associate Professor of pathology and surgical pathology attending and as the Director of the Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory, Department of Pathology, Yale University School of Medicine, New Haven, CT, USA. His research interests include molecular pathology (application and integration of innovative technologies to the practice of pathology, with special reference to diagnostic, prognostic, and predictive factors for solid tumors), thyroid tumors (pathology and biology of the thyroid; investigation of the mechanisms that control tumor development and progression), soft tissue tumors (analysis of mesenchymal tissue tumorigenesis), urogenital pathology, and cancer epidemiology.
