Marco Guazzi is an Associate Professor of cardiology at the University of Milano and the Head of Cardiopulmonary Unit in the Cardiology Division at San Paolo University Hospital, Milan, a position he has held since 2005. Dr. Guazzi received his M.D. degree from the University of Milano School of Medicine in 1989. He then completed the fellowship in cardiology at the University of Pavia in 1993 and a Ph.D. degree in cardiovascular medicine at the University of Milano. His research focuses on the strategies by which heart failure therapies should be tailored to hemodynamic profiles and cardiopulmonary responses during exercise and the pathogenetic mechanisms and clinical correlates of endothelial dysfunction in heart failure and hypertensive patients. He has established several clinical research programs into heart failure evaluation and therapy and pulmonary vascular disease. Between 2005 and 2007, he served as a Chair of Exercise Physiology and Rehabilitation Working Group of The Italian Society of Cardiology. As current appointment, he serves the Board of the Exercise and Translational Physiology Group of the European Society of Cardiology. Dr. Guazzi serves on the Editorial Board of Journal of Cardiac Failure and is the author or coauthor of 210 full-length manuscripts.
