Andrew Saxe was born in New York City in 1944. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree (in history) from the University of Michigan. He received his MD degree from the University of Michigan and completed a residency in general surgery also at the University of Michigan. He served as junior faculty at the University of California, Davis and on a two-year leave of absence served as Surgeon at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland. His clinical and research efforts were directed toward endocrine surgery. He currently is Professor of surgery at Michigan State University, East Lansing Michigan, USA. His current interests remain endocrine surgery and wound care. He is a member of the Endocrine Society and The American Association of Endocrine Surgeons. He is a past president of the Michigan Chapter of the American College of Surgeons and Governor (term expires 2011) of the American College of Surgeons.
