His research achievements have been well recognized by the international research community through his more than 150 papers and 5 books. He has been the first author for majority of these papers published in the most prestigious international journals including Nature, Phys. Rev., Chem. Rev., JACS, Nano Letters, Opt. Lett, JOSA, APL, JAP, IEEE J. Q. E. and Prog. Quant. Electronics. His major achievements in nonlinear optical research include: (i) the findings of stimulated Kerr scattering (1990), stimulated Rayleigh-Bragg scattering (2004) and stimulated Mie scattering (2012), (ii) the initial reports on producing optical phase-conjugation waves via backward stimulated emission pumped by one-, two- or three-photon excitation (1997-2002); (iii) Multi-photon excited frequency-upconversion lasing (Nature, 2002), and the optical power limiting and stabilization (1995-2000), and (iv) the theoretical description of optical-frequency Pockels effect in a second-order nonlinear crystal medium (1986), which has been shown later to be the physical basis for spatial soliton formation in the second-order nonlinear media.
