Martin Büchert has received his Ph.D. from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany, and the University of Medical Centre Freiburg, Germany, in die field of fast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and functional MRI methods. This was followed by research stays at the Veterans General Hospital, Tapei, China, Taiwan, at the Department of Radiology, University of California San Francisco, Northern California Institute for Research and Education as Research Fellow focusing on magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) and multiarray data acquisition. After returning to the University Medical Centre Freiburg in 2001, he established together with Professor Jürgen Hennig and Dr. Simone Peschl the Magnetic Resonance Development and Application Centre (MRDAC). The MR Development and Application Center is a spin-off of the Research Group Medical Physics, Department of Radiology, University Medical Centre Freiburg, one of the internationally leading groups in the field of methodological developments in magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy and its application in clinics and research. MRDAC was established in 2001 to serve as a platform for collaborations with partners in industry and research according to industrial quality and performance standards. His main activities include design, implementation, and execution of pharmaceutical MRI/MRS studies in the context of preclinical and clinical studies in the fields of oncology, cardiology, nephrology, trophology, nephrology, and others; development of novel MRI acquisition methods.
