Jesper Henri Hattel

Technical University of Denmark, Denmark

Jesper H. Hattel, born in Copenhagen, Denmark 1965, obtained his M.Sc. in structural engineering in 1989 and his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering in 1993 both from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). In 1993-1995 he was an EU Marie Curie post. doctoral fellow at MAGMA GmbH in Germany. He was appointed associate professor in 1997 and full professor in 2006 in modeling of manufacturing processes at the Department of Mechanical Engineering DTU, a position he still holds. He is reviewer for more than 25 scientific journals and has been elected “outstanding reviewer” for Acta Materialia as well as top “10 reviewer” for Scripta Materialia. He is a board member of the Danish Center for Applied Mathematics and Mechanics as well the Danish Metallurgical Society. His research interests are modeling of high temperature manufacturing processes like casting, moulding, joining and heat treatment in materials ranging as wide as metals, polymers and concrete. The research area is characterized by multiphysiscs and involves disciplines like computational fluid dynamics, numerical heat transfer, computational solid mechanics as well as computational material science. Applications range from microelectronics over automotive industry to large structures like wind turbines.
