Hans J. Fecht
Hans Joerg Fecht was born in 1957 and is chaired as the Professor and Director of the Institute of Micro- and Nanomaterials in the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Sciences at Ulm University, Germany. This institute has been established in 1997 with the main research focus on the development, optimization, and production of new materials for micro/nanosystem engineering and nanotechnology (see http://www.uni-ulm.de/in/nano). In addition, he works as a Senior Scientist at the Institute of Nanotechnology INT at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology KIT. Professor Fecht received his Ph.D. degree in materials science in 1984 from the University of Saarbrücken, Germany. After spending several years as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow/Associate in the USA at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, Calif, USA, he received his formal habilitation after returning to Germany to hold professorships at theUniversity of Augsburg (metals physics 1990-1993), Technical University Berlin (Full Professor 1993-1997), and Ulm University (Full Professor since 1997). He also holds Adjunct Professor Positions in China, India, and Japan. In 1998, he received the most prestigious G.W. Leibniz Award of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft DFG. Furthermore, he directs a research group of about 30 Post-Docs, Ph.D. students, graduate students, and technicians. Fecht has (co-)authored about 400 technical papers, (co)-organized several international conferences and workshops, and is a member of several international advisory boards.
