Einar M. Skaalvik

Einar M. Skaalvik holds the position of a Professor of educational psychology at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (formerly the University of Trondheim). He also has a part-time position as a Professor II at NTNU Social Research AS. He got his M.A. (1969) and Ph.D. (1974) degrees in education from the University of Oslo, Norway. Dr. Skaalvik is specialised in self-concept, self-efficacy, and motivation, where he has done basic research related to conceptual analysis, how self-concept and motivation are affected, relations between self-concept and motivation, and how self-concept and motivation affects emotional responses, behavior, and achievement. His current research focuses on self-efficacy, motivation, job satisfaction, stress, and burnout among school teachers. His research also expands to areas like learning, special education, adult education, prison education, and curriculum and teaching methods. Dr. Skaalvik has published 27 books and research reports in Norwegian and more than 40 articles in international journals. He has also published a number of articles in Norwegian journals.
