Jan Petr was born in Olomouc, Czech Republic, in 1981. He received the M.S. (2005) and Ph.D. (2008) degrees in analytical chemistry from the Palacky University in Olomouc, Czech Republic. After his short-term scholarships at the University of Bayreuth, Germany (Professor Hartmut Frank), the Lund University, Sweden (Dr. Mihaela Nistor), the University of Texas at Arlington, Arlington, Tex, USA (Professor Daniel W. Armstrong), and his postdoctoral stay at the ?cole Nationale Sup?rieure de Chimie de Paris, France (Professor Anne Varenne), he was appointed as an Associate Professor at the Palacky University in Olomouc, Czech Republic. He is mainly interested in capillary electrophoresis and microfluidics for many applications, for example, online preconcentration of compounds with biological interests, separation of enantiomers, characterization and separation of microorganisms, cells, and nanoparticles. In 2006, he received the Shimadzu Prize for Young Analytical Chemists. He published 22 papers in international journals with approximately 150 citations; his H-index is 8.
