Chi Wai Chow received his B.E. degree with honors and his Ph.D. degree, both from the Department of Electronic Engineering of the Chinese University, Hong Kong, in 2001 and 2004, respectively. After graduation, he was appointed as a Postdoc Fellow at the same university, working on hybrid integration of photonic components and silicon waveguides. Between 2005 and 2007, Chow was a Postdoc Research Scientist, working mainly on two European Union projects: Photonic Integrated Extended Metro and Access Network (PIEMAN), and Transparent Ring Interconnection Using Multiwavelength Photonic Switches (TRIUMPH) in the Tyndall National Institute and Department of Physics at the University College Cork, Ireland. In 2007, he joined the Department of Photonics at the National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan. Chow is currently serving as an Associate Professor at the same university. His research interests are passive-optical network (PON), access network, radio-over-fiber (ROF), visible light communications (VLC), advanced modulations, and silicon photonics.
