Sonia D. Batten

Sonia D. Batten is a biological oceanographer with the Sir Alister Hardy Foundation for Ocean Science which operates the Continuous Plankton Recorder Survey. After completing a Ph.D. degree at Southampton University (UK) and then spending 7 years in Plymouth (UK) working with the Atlantic CPR Survey, she moved to British Columbia, Canada, to coordinate the North Pacific CPR Survey. Her research interests include the role of zooplankton in large-sale oceanic ecosystems, the effects of the physical environment on their dynamics, and the interactions between zooplankton and higher and lower trophic levels.
