George L. Karakostas
George L. Karakostas was born in Arta, Greece, in 1950. He received the B.S. degree in mathematics (4-year ptychion) from the Department of Mathematics of University of Ioannina, Ioannina, Greece, in 1972. In 1980, he received his Ph.D. degree in mathematics (thesis' title: Asymptotic Behavior of Causal Operator Equations) from The Feinberg Graduate School of the Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israel. Since 1975, Karakostas is a member of the staff of the University of Ioannina, serving as an Assistant in 1975–1982, Lecturer in 1982–1984, Assistant Professor in 1984-1985, Associate Professor in 1985–1990, and Professor in mathematical analysis since 1990. He worked as the Director of the Section of Mathematical Analysis, Department of Mathematics, University of Ioannina, the Head of Mathematics Department of University of Ioannina, and the Dean of the School of Natural Sciences, University of Ioannina. In addition, he performed as the teacher of the following university courses: mathematical analysis; complex functions; real functions; general mathematics; calculus; measure and integration; real analysis; differential equations; compact spaces; mathematical analysis.
