Dr. Ivan Gentile was born in Castellammare di Stabia on 15.07.1972. He obtained a degree in Medicine on 25.07.1996 from the "Seconda Università di Napoli" with a grade of 110/110 cum laude. From February 1999 to June 1999 he was guest fellow at the Institute of Pathology in Cologne (Germany). On 24.10.2000 he specialized in Infectious Diseases at the University of Naples "Federico II" with maximum marks (70/70 cum laude). From January 2001 to November 2007 he worked as Medical Doctor at the Department of Infectious Diseases - Azienda Ospedaliera Universitaria "Federico II" (38 hours per week). In May 2007 he received the annual award of the "Associazione Salernitana Studio Fegato" with a paper entitled: "A noninvasive score can predict gastro-esophageal varices in patients with HBV/HCV-related chronic hepatitis". In November 2008 he won the first prize of the "Premio SIBILLA 2008" with paper entitled: "Lamivudine- resistant mutant in patients in prophylaxis with lamivudine during antiblastic chemotherapy for non-Hodgkin Lymphoma: clinical recovery with association of lamivudine and adefovir". He is author of several papers most of them published on International journals with an overall Impact factor of 87.269 (50.204 from full paper articles and 37.056 from abstracts printed on journals). He is Guest Referee for Gut (I.F. 9.766), Liver International (I.F. 2.908), and Reviewer for the journal Reviews in Infection. From January 2008 to December 2009 and form September 2010 till now he is secretary of the Directive board of the Italian Society of Infectious and Tropical Diseases - Campania Section. He is Contract Professor of Infectious Diseases for the Residence Program in "Infectious Diseases" at University of Naples "Federico II" in the academic years 2008/2009 and 2009/2010.
