Paolo Picco was born on May 15th, 1955 in Genoa, Italy. He graduated in medicine and surgery in 1980 from the University of Genoa, Italy and specialized in pediatrics (1984), endocrinology (1988), and rheumatology (2002). Since 1988, he has been working as an Assistant Professor in Giannina Gaslini Children’s Hospital, Genoa. Dr. Picco has essentially dealt with the clinical research targeting his interests in autoimmune diseases (diabetes mellitus type 1 and rheumatic disorders) as well as the endocrine complications of long-term survivors from malignancies. More recently, he has focused his scientific activity on the genetic and clinical features of autoinflammatory diseases. Furthermore, he is the coauthor of about 120 scientific papers published by Italian or international journals and of a text on pediatric rheumatology.
