Martin Tajmar

Martin Tajmar obtained his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in physics from the Vienna University of Technology, Austria, as well as an M.S. degree in space studies from the International Space University, Strasbourg, France. During his studies, he acted as a Managing Director of Austrospace (Association of Austrian Space Industries) and joined ESA in 1999 as Young-Graduate-Trainee in the Electric Propulsion Section. In 2000, he moved to the Austrian Institute of Technology (presently Austrian Research Centers) where he was appointed as the Head of the Space Propulsion & Advanced Concepts Department in 2005. His responsibilities include the development of field-emission thrusters, microchemical propulsion systems, and advanced concepts for propulsion and power systems. Since 2001, he has been also a Lecturer at the Mechanical Engineering Department of the Vienna University of Technology, Austria, and since 2004, a Lecturer at the International Space University, Strasbourg, France.
