Cecilia Bartuli is Associate Professor of materials science and technology at the University La Sapienza of Rome, Italy. She obtained her academic degree in chemical engineering (Materials Science Curriculum) in 1989 from the University of Padua, Padua, Italy. In 1990, she obtained a Postgraduate Personal Grant from the Center for the Development of Materials (CSM), Rome, Italy, and in 1990 she joined the University La Sapienza. In 1993, she was an Invited Visiting Research Engineer at the Center for Plasma Processing of Materials, Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA, USA, for the collaboration in the field of thermal spray coatings from SHS powders. Since 1990, she has been participating and coordinating research projects in different fields of materials science and technology, with special reference to surface engineering. Her research activity includes the investigation of coatings produced by thermal spraying for corrosion, tribological, and thermal protection. Bartuli's main international collaborations in the past years are in the Baikov Institute of Metallurgy, Moscow, the Center for Plasma Processing of Materials of the Drexel University, Philadelphia, the Russian Academy of Science (Ceramics Physical Chemistry Institute), the School of Metallurgy and Materials Science, the Central University of Venezuela, the Exotherm Corporation (USA), and the Thales Alenia Space. Her teaching activity is carried out in the frame of the Laurea degree in chemical engineering, where she is responsible for the courses of Corrosion and Protection of Materials, Materials Engineering, and Durability of Materials.
