Rolf Bambauer

Nephrologist, Germany

Rolf Bambauer, holder of the M.D. and Ph.D. degrees, was born on June 20, 1943. Bambauer was graduated from the University of Saarland, Saarbr├╝cken, Germany (from 1969 to 1974). He received postgraduate training from 1975 to 1982 in internal medicine and was a Fellow in nephrology at the University of Saarland, Homburg/Saar. Bambauer received the M.D. degree in 1976 and the Habilitation degree (Privatdozent) in 1985. From 1980 to 1990, he was the Head of the Department of Nephrology, University of Saarland, Homburg/Saar, Germany, and from 1990 to 2008 at the Institute for Blood Purification, Homburg. His research activities are therapeutic plasma exchange, LDL apheresis, immunoadsorption, vascular access, catheter technology, and dialysis technology. Bambauer's scientific activities include 250 publications, 5 books, 10 special issues, 350 oral presentations (almost all in English). Since 2008, he has retired.
