Lefteris G. Gortzis

Lefteris G. Gortzis studied physics at the University of Patras, Greece. He received his M.S. degree in medical physics from School of Medicine, the University of Patras, Greece. He also holds a Ph.D. degree in medical informatics from the University of Patras, School of Medicine, Greece. His Ph.D. thesis is under the title “Methodologies for supporting telediagnostic and telesurgical services over web.” His research interests include the design and evaluation of e-health applications and specific collaborative clinical systems, and the use of information technology to increase patient safety. He has designed many collaborative clinical systems, which are already in use at the University Hospital of Patras, Greece. He has published several papers to cited Journals and to proceedings of international conferences. He has evaluated the effectiveness and efficiency of many existing clinical information systems and planed for system modifications required to meet the changing needs of the patients, care providers, and the organization. He is also one of the reviewers of IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering and Medical Decision Making Journals as well as of the British Medical Association.
