Nicola Guglielmi was born in Bologna in 1966. He received a Diploma of Liceo Scientifico, High School, Bologna, in 1984, the Laurea degree in Electronics Engineering, University of Bologna, in 1991, and the Ph.D. degree in computational mathematics, University of Padova, in 1996. From 1992 to 1993, he obtained a Fellowship S.G.S. Thomson Company, D.E.I.S., University of Bologna. From 1993 to 1995, he was a Ph.D. student, Dipartimento di Matematica Pura ed Applicata, University of Padova. In 1997, he obtained a Postdoctoral Fellowship, Dipartimento di Scienze Matematiche, University of Trieste. From 1998 to 2001, he served as a Researcher in numerical analysis, Faculty of Sciences, University of L'Aquila. From 2001 to 2005, he worked as an Associate Professor of numerical analysis, Faculty of Sciences, University of L'Aquila. From 2005 to 2006, he served as an Associate Professor of numerical analysis, Faculty of Biotechnologies, University of L'Aquila. Since 2006, he serves as a Full Professor of numerical analysis, Faculty of Biotechnologies, University of L'Aquila. He authored about 40 international publications on the numerical integration of implicit delay differential equations (jointly with Ernst Hairer, University of Geneva), publically available at http://www.unige.ch/~hairer/software.html. He received many awards including Selected Talk for Young Researchers at the Volterra Centennial Conference (USA, 1997), the New Talent Award at SciCADE-99 conference (Australia, 1999), and Selected Communication Award at UMI-99 conference (Italy, 1999).
