Igor Pivkin serves as an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Computational Science of the Faculty of Informatics, University of Lugano, Switzerland. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in mathematics from Novosibirsk State University, Russia, M.S. degree in computer science, and Ph.D. degree in applied mathematics from Brown University, USA. Before coming to Lugano, he was a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. His research interests lie in the area of multiscale/multiphysics modeling, corresponding numerical methods, and parallel large-scale simulations of biological and physical systems.
