Iwane Suzuki completed his Ph.D. degree in agricultural sciences with the studies of regulatory mechanisms for gene expression by nitrogen availability in photosynthetic organisms at Nagoya University, Japan, in 1995. After that, he spent for a few months as a Fellow of Japanese Society of Promotion of Sciences and then got a position of a Research Associate at National Institute for Basic Biology, Japan. Subsequently, he moved to the University of Tsukuba in 2005 and serves currently as a Professor at the Graduate School of Life and Environmental Sciences. He is interested in molecular mechanisms of acclimation of microalgae to changes in the environmental conditions.
