Hari Babu Mereyala

Hari Babu Mereyala was born in Chennai, India, in 1950. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Osmania University, Hyderabad, India, in 1973 and 1978, respectively. He was a Scientist at the Jute Technological Research Laboratory, Calcutta, India (1976–1980). He was a Research Fellow at the University of Fribourg, Fribourg, Switzerland and at ETH-Zü rich University, Zü rich, Switzerland throughout the years from 1980 to 1985. He was a Scientist at the National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, India for five years starting from the year 1985 until 1990. From 1990 to 2006, he was a Senior Scientist and the Head of Organic Chemistry Division at the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad, India. Presently, Mereyala is the President of Research and Development at Jupiter Bioscience Ltd, Secunderabad, India. He is mainly interested in carbohydrate chemistry, total synthesis of natural products, synthetic organic chemistry, new drug discovery, synthesis of unnatural amino acids, separation of racemic compounds by enzymes and diastereomeric resolution, organic process optimisation, and development and manufacturing of pharmaceutics.
