Aviv Shaish

Aviv Shaish, holder of a Ph.D. degree, is a Researcher of atherosclerosis at the Bert W. Strassburger Lipid Center, Sheba Medical Center, Israel, Lecturer in "Achva Academic College," and Consultant to biotechnology companies. Dr. Shaish received his B.S. and M.S. degrees with distinction from Ben-Gurion University of Beer-Sheva, Israel, in 1985 and 1987, respectively. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in 1993 from the Biochemistry Department, the Weizmann Institute of Science. After his postdoctoral work at Washington University, School of Medicine, Saint-Louis, Mo, USA, he was appointed Senior Researcher at Sheba Medical Center, in 1993. Dr. Shaish is a Member of the Israeli Medical Association-Society for Research, Prevention and Treatment of Atherosclerosis. Dr. Shaish has published more than 60 papers. His current research interest is in the prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis, with emphasis on the use of the alga Dunaliella, a source of beta-carotene isomers, as a therapeutic means in this disease.
