Satoru Kakizaki

Satoru Kakizaki was born in Saitama, Japan, in 1966. He received the M.D. and the Ph.D. degrees from the Gunma University School of Medicine, Japan in 1990 and 1999, respectively. In 1990, he was a Fellow at the First Department of Internal Medicine, Gunma University Hospital. From 2000 to 2002, Kakizaki was a Visiting Fellow at National Institute of Environmental Health and Sciences, NIH, North Carolina, USA. Since 2002, he has been an Assistant Professor of the Department of Medicine and Molecular Science, Gunma University, Graduate School of Medicine. He is mainly interested in gastroenterology and hepatology. Nuclear receptor CAR and its role in the liver diseases are his main theme of research. He was recipient of the Ajinomoto Award from the Japan Society of Hepatology (2009) and JSPS Research Fellowship Award for Japanese Biomedical and Behavioral Researchers at NIH (2001). He is an Editorial Board Member of the World Journal of Gastroenterology (2010-2013), World Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (2010-2015), and World Journal of Hepatology (2010-2015). He is a Member of the American Gastroenterological Association.
