Anna Rita Bilia is Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Technology at the Department of Chemistry, Florence. Since 2007 she is Director of the post-graduate School of Hospital Pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Florence. She gives the courses of Phytochemistry, of Pharmaceutical Technology, of Clinical Galenic and of Chemistry of Cosmetic Products at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Florence since 1997. She has a long experience in Pharmacognosy since 1988 and she is a dedicated researcher with a deep knowledge in the analytics and pharmaceutical technology of herbal drugs, herbal drug preparations and herbal medicinal products. In 1997 she got the award "Claudio Redaelli" for outstanding young researchers in the field of phytochemistry by SIF (Italian Society of Phytochemistry) and in 2002 she got the "Silver Medal" of the Gesellschaft fuer Arzneipflanzenforschung (Gesellschaft für Arzneipflanzenforschung e.V., Society for Medicinal Plant Reserach, the society editing the scientific journal Planta Medica). Since 2009 she is expert of European Pharmacopoeia of the Traditional Chinese Medicine committee. Since 1997 she is a member of the board of the Italian Society of Phytochemistry (SIF) and since 2013 she is the President of SIF. She is the Italian delegate of the board and the scientific committee of ESCOP (the European Scientific Cooperative for Phytotherapy). Since 2006 she is member of the board of GA (International Society of Medicinal Plant and natural product Research, Gesellschaft für Arzneipflanzenforschung e.V.) and from 2014 she is vice-president. Since 2007 she is member of the board of ADRITELF (the Italian Society of University Teachers and Researchers in Legislation and Pharmaceutical Technology). She is the author of more than 180 scientific papers, several books chapters and invited reviews concerning studies on medicinal plants, herbal drug preparations and herbal medicinal products.
