Zoe Barber

Zoe Barber obtained her Ph.D. degree from the Materials Science Department at Cambridge University, UK, and has since remained there within the Device Materials Group. She is currently a Senior Lecturer at the department, and is responsible for the Thin Film Deposition Laboratory. Her research interests are based around thin-film deposition using a range of techniques, and the development and optimization of the growth of many different thin-film materials. These include device materials (e.g., magnetic alloys and compounds, ferroelectrics, dielectrics, superconductors, and multiferroics, as well as tunnel barriers, buffer layers, contacts, and encapsulation layers) and, in relation to a wider range of thin-film applications, ultrahard coatings, biomedical coatings, amorphous metals, shape-memory metals, precise free-standing structures for nanotechnology applications, and multilayers.
